2014 ACVIM Forum in Nashville, Tennessee

Thank you for attending the 2014 ACVIM Forum!

Attendees in Tune with Innovation and Science at the 2014 ACVIM Forum

The 2014 ACVIM Forum Brought the Veterinary Industry’s Premier Speakers to Nashville, Tennessee

“It is cutting edge information and, in most cases, easy to apply clinically right after the meeting.”–2014 Forum attendee

The 2014 ACVIM Forum was a success! More than 2,800 attendees came to the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center for four days of cutting edge education, research, training and innovation in the field of veterinary specialty medicine.

The ACVIM Forum continues to provide relevant education to veterinary specialists, general practitioners, students and technicians. With hundreds of scientific sessions, more than 40 interactive sessions, research abstracts and poster presentations, and a technician program, there were many high quality continuing education opportunities from which to choose.

391 ACVIM Candidates took exams and celebrated afterwards at the Diplomate/Candidate Reception Tuesday night. Exam results will be available July 18.

The Specialty Symposium on Wednesday gave ACVIM Diplomates and Candidates opportunities to learn, socialize and meet with colleagues from their specialties. Congratulations to all the new Diplomates who were recognized and received certificates.

The keynote address given by Dr. Ed Viesturs was very well attended. The veterinarian, and the first American to have climbed all fourteen of the world's eight-thousander mountain peaks (all without supplemental oxygen), offered some great points:

  • It's all about the journey and working together to reach a common goal.
  • Surround yourself with people that will help you succeed.
  • Every day we're challenged. Every day we're climbing some kind of mountain. Keep challenging yourself and always have a passion for what you do.
  • And, finally, always listen to the mountain!

I think we can all agree that the Gaylord Opryland location presented a few challenges in locating meeting and session rooms…was that Ryman Ballroom or Ryman Studio? While the ACVIM staff and on-site event planners addressed many room changes and overflow issues, we acknowledge that we weren’t able to accommodate everyone all the time, and will be reviewing our procedures for 2015 including additional signage, an improved app experience and printed addendums. Fortunately, we’ve taken a look at the room setup in Indianapolis and it looks a whole lot easier to navigate!

Take a look at some of the highlights from this year’s Forum!

Animal Survivor Event

The Animal Survivor event highlighted three stories of local animals who survived life threatening illnesses with the support of their owners, veterinarians and specialists. Ayla Brown, country music recording artist, served as emcee in the exhibit hall. These amazing stories captured the hearts of everyone. We deeply appreciate the support of this year’s sponsors; BlackwellKing and Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Take a look at this year’s Animal Survivor stories!

Exhibit Hall and 2014 ACVIM Forum Sponsors

117 industry partners filled the exhibit hall with the latest products and technologies. The ACVIM would like to extend sincere thanks to the 2014 sponsors.
