Student Chapter Information

The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM), the national certifying organization for veterinary specialists in large and small animal internal medicine, cardiology, neurology and oncology has 18 ACVIM student chapters at AVMA certified veterinary colleges and universities in North America.
We welcome the opportunity to form new student chapters and encourage veterinary students to join existing chapters.

If you are interested in starting an ACVIM Student Chapter at your school or university, please contact Stephanie Peters at Stephanie@ACVIM.org or 800-245-9081.

Joining a student chapter of ACVIM is beneficial to veterinary students who plan to pursue Board-certification after graduation as well as those who wish to work in a general practice setting.

Benefits of joining your university or college's chapter include:

  • Opportunities to learn about careers in specialty internal medicine
  • Educational activities such as lectures and wet labs
  • Social and networking events
  • Veterinary students receive discounted registration to the ACVIM's annual continuing education meeting, the ACVIM Forum, where cutting-edge information, technology, and research are showcased for the veterinary community. For more information please visit www.ACVIMForum.org.
  • Chapters can apply to receive monetary support from the ACVIM for students traveling to the ACVIM Forum.
