ACVIM Student Chapter Information
The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM), the national certifying organization for veterinary specialists in large and small animal internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, and oncology, is in the process of developing ACVIM Student Chapters at veterinary colleges and universities across the country.
Joining a Student Chapter of ACVIM is beneficial to those who plan to pursue Board-certification after graduation, as well as those who wish to work in a general practice setting.
Benefits of joining your University or College's Chapter include:
Student Affiliates will be educated on the referral process (the relationship between a general practitioner and specialist) and how to develop referral relationships after graduation.
The Chapter may be involved in the organization of scholarly activities, speaking engagements, and symposiums that will benefit and help educate the Chapter’s Student Affiliates.
Student Affiliates:
Will receive a free online subscription to the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine (JVIM), the official publication of the ACVIM, via their University or College’s subscription.
Will receive complimentary registration to ACVIM's annual continuing education meeting, the ACVIM Forum, where cutting-edge information, technology, and research are showcased for the veterinary community. For more information, including an online program, please visit www.ACVIMForum.org.
Will receive access to a listserve, where Student Affiliates can post questions, case reports, etc., to discuss with other Chapters.
Will receive access to a chat board with online rounds.
May receive monetary support from the ACVIM for fundraising and/or travel, lodging, and per diem at the ACVIM Forum.
