The first quarter of the year has been a challenging one, as the Board of Regents and the ACVIM staff have worked hard to adjust to the constantly evolving public health crisis around the world. Gena Erwin and the Meetings, Marketing and Education team are looking at ways to deliver a portion of the 2020 ACVIM Forum content virtually. Her group has led the communication efforts, using multiple channels to ensure members and candidates get the information they need as soon as the information is available.
Nicole Finn and the Certification and Accreditation team have adjusted planning for exam administration multiple times. They are now working on moving to a virtually administered and proctored model, which will allow exams to proceed in 2021 no matter what is happening with COVID-19.
Shannon Carter and the Governance and Membership team have been focusing on member needs. They developed a COVID-19 community in ACVIM360, allowing our members to share ideas and resources.
My work has been centered on facilitating board discussions and decisions, while striving to keep our members up to date on what is happening. Our offices closed mid-March and it’s been particularly rewarding to see how our staff have pivoted to a remote work environment. Their unwavering dedication to our members and our mission has been heartening in a time of uncertainty and worry about our loved ones.
My wish for you all is to be healthy while you care for your family, patients and your colleagues.
