The University of Florida IFAS Extension Straughn Professional Development Center is conveniently located on the south side of University of Florida campus, next to the Animal Sciences Building and across Shealy Drive from the Vetmed Teaching Hospital. The Center is located 3 miles from the host hotels.

Each course module will be submitted for a different amount of RACE-approved continuing education credit, with a maximum amount of 103.5 CE hours available to earn. Please view each module page for more information.

The ACE Committee has been diligently monitoring the ongoing impact of COVID-19, including the latest developments around surges and variants. Although we are optimistic that we will be able to host ACE courses in-person, all courses are subject to change and/or cancellation. The ACVIM will keep all registered attendees informed should any such change and/or cancellation need to occur.

Sheila Carrera-Justiz, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology)
Clinical Associate Professor and Service Chief

Sheila Carrera-Justiz is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Florida. She completed her DVM at the University of Florida in 2005, followed by a rotating small animal internship at the University of Missouri and a neurology specialty internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego. She then completed a residency in Neurology at Tufts University and attained board certification in 2010. She obtained the Neurosurgery Certificate of Training from the ACVIM in 2013. She spent a few years in private practice in Los Angeles before returning to UF to teach. Her professional interests lie in novel neurosurgical approaches, advanced imaging techniques and clinical teaching. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and travelling.
