Joining a student chapter of the ACVIM is beneficial to students interested in becoming Board-certified, as well as those who plan to work in a general practice setting. We encourage veterinary students to join one of our existing chapters. To join a chapter, please reach out to your school's chapter officers or contact us at Membership@ACVIM.org.
In order to host an ACVIM student chapter, an institution must be an AVMA certified veterinary college or university. Chapter officers submit a quarterly activity form to the ACVIM, maintain current chapter rosters and other records and plan chapter activities. Student chapters can apply to receive a $250 activity fund for an academic function. They are also eligible to receive up to $500 for a travel stipend to assist veterinary students who wish to attend the ACVIM Forum.
If you are interested in starting an ACVIM student chapter at your school or university, one of the first steps is identifying an advisor for your chapter. Your lead advisor must be an ACVIM Diplomate at the university you attend. Please contact Erin Smith at Erin@ACVIM.org to get started.
