Advanced Techniques in Neurosurgery
Course Overview
This three-day course consists of short presentations interspersed with hands-on laboratories in which participants learn a wide variety of neurosurgical approaches and techniques. Specific procedures include rostral and caudal fossa craniotomies, ventriculoperitoneal shunt placement, ventricular marsupialization, spinal stabilization with multiple types of implant systems, operating magnification, and lumbosacral decompression. Spinal stabilization principles and biomechanics will be reviewed. 3D printing principles will be reviewed and prints utilized in laboratory.
The goal of this course is to provide attendees the opportunity to practice neurosurgical techniques not routinely encountered under the guidance of expert neurosurgeons while sharing experiences with other participants.
This course was made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, MedVet and Karl Storz, and our lab partners, Artemedics, IMEX, Karl Storz, and Neuromed.
