Join or Start a Student Chapter

Everything you need to get involved at the student level.

Join an existing chapter

Joining a student chapter of the ACVIM (SCACVIM) is beneficial to students interested in becoming Board-certified, as well as those who plan to work in a general practice setting. We encourage veterinary students to join one of our existing chapters by reaching out to your school's chapter officers directly or contacting us at Membership@ACVIM.org to help you get connected.

Start a new chapter

In order to host an ACVIM Student Chapter, an institution must be an AVMA-accredited veterinary college or university and must identify an ACVIM Diplomate at that institution who will serve as the chapter advisor. Once both of these criteria are met, the next step is to reach out to Membership@ACVIM.org to receive and sign the new chapter paperwork.

Once established, chapter officers will stay in good standing with the ACVIM by submitting quarterly activity updates, which help the ACVIM maintain current chapter officer rosters and ensure each chapter remains active. Active student chapters can apply to receive a $250 activity stipend per academic year, as well as a $500 stipend to attend the annual ACVIM Forum conference in person or virtually.
