Assisting neurology and neurosurgery residents with travel to the ACVIM Forum

In memory of Dr. Charles Knecht

Award Information 

Up to three (3) awards, each valued at $1000, are available annually for ACVIM neurology and neurosurgery residents in training to assist with the expense of attending the ACVIM Forum. Residents must submit their research abstract through the official ACVIM Forum Call for Research Abstracts each January and be invited to present either an oral or poster presentation. Upon confirmation of selection to present, please submit your travel award application.  

Criteria for Award
  • The resident must be in good standing in their ACVIM-approved neurology residency program.
  • The resident is presenting an abstract or poster at the ACVIM Forum.
  • The quality of the resident’s work and the impact of the study on veterinary neurology will be taken into consideration.
  • Priority will be given to residents in the final year of their program. 
Application Process 

The resident and mentor must write 400-500 words detailing the research they are presenting at the ACVIM Forum with respect to the work which was performed and how it was funded. Additionally, please include the abstract, as submitted through the ACVIM Call for Research Abstracts. Publication plans and the future continuance of the work should be included. 

Timeline 

Applications are due each April and should be submitted to Research@ACVIM.org. Submissions will be reviewed by the Neurology Nominating Committee, and winners will be announced in May.  If you have additional questions, please contact Research@ACVIM.org.
