The Lee & Inge Pyle Service Award
Presented for outstanding and dedicated service by an ACVIM Diplomate in a volunteer capacity to the College.
The Lee & Inge Pyle Service Award is presented annually at the ACVIM Forum. Recipients have an outstanding record of service to the ACVIM either as an elected official of the College or through voluntary service on task forces, committees, or as an advocate of the College to the veterinary profession or public.
Eligibility:
- Active Diplomates (in good standing) of the ACVIM are eligible.
- Except for rare and exceptional circumstances, a period of at least 10 years must elapse after becoming an ACVIM Diplomate before they become eligible.
- Once nominated, individuals will remain in consideration for the award for three additional years.
- Diplomates are not eligible while they are serving as members of the Board of Regents, as elected officers of any specialty or on the selection committee for this award. Diplomates given compensation in the form of a salary or stipend for service contributions will generally not be eligible for consideration of that portion of their service to the College.
Selection Criteria:
- An outstanding record of service to the ACVIM either as an elected official of the College or through voluntary service to the College on task forces, committees, or as an advocate of the College to the veterinary profession or public.
- A demonstrated record of sustained (10 or more years) service, in a variety of capacities as a Diplomate of the ACVIM.
- Demonstration of innovative service contributions that have advanced the ACVIM through administrative, committee or other efforts.
- Evidence of a leadership role in one or more activities of the ACVIM.

Congratulations to our 2025 Pyle Award Recipient
Wendy A. Ware, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Cardiology), Professor Emerita, Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine
"I believe you would be hard-pressed to find another member of the ACVIM who has served on as diverse a number of committees and accepted roles on some of the most time-consuming, thankless and challenging committees. [But] for Dr. Ware, service is not limited to ACVIM. You can see by her committee responsibilities at Iowa State University and her outside service that she is dedicated to giving back not only to her professional organizations but to her University and her community."
